Hi Wave59 fans,

I want to show two things here:

1. We are now able to do some math in the chart setup like I have done here with the lower chart: X.DJUPV - X.DJDNV. So it is plotting the NYSE Up - Down Volumne as a chart. I did plot the difference with some AMA overhead here. (And then you can do all kinds of stuff like with normal charts..;-)

2. I am showing the SPX index in the upper windows. Interesting: when the up-down volumne is crossing the zero line, we have a change in trend here. As you can see with the red and green arrows. Interesting to highlight here is that this indicator also turned into negative territory during the last days since march 2009....

Also take a look at the several divergences in the recent past and how they played out.
Even so on the "sling-shot" patterns just above the 0-line, before it pulled back and accelerated to the downside.
Interesting how this indicator never "hovers" around the 0-line but chooses direction, either up or down and the market will follow.

Herzlichen Dank Lars, for showing this !

Hi Lars,
        I am fascinated by the 2nd chart in your post, but I am not able to reproduce the same chart as yours on the x.djupv-x.djdnv + "AMA Magic". I am so grateful if you could give me some pointers on your AMA Magic to get the 2nd chart.

Thank You.

Hi Peter,

it is a normal AMA with a length of 300 applied to the daily chart with the x.djupv-x.djdnv chart input setting. The bars are set to background color so that you only see the AMA line.

Thats all...;-)

Regards,
Lars

This is really cool. Lars, can you tell what length AMA have you used on Intraday and how do you get it so smooth with up/down color

Hi Sridhariyer,

when using intraday, you just have to make sure to subtract the value of the last bar because volumne info is cumulative over the day and you want the volumne info regarding the actual bar. But do not subtract from the first bar of the day - this is the start for the day and you do not want to subtract to full cumulative volumne from yesterday..;-)

I have used a 10 period AMA to smooth the data. But you can also use an xaverage or so to do some something...

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Lars

Hi Datapool,
Which version of W59 are you using?  I have PRO.  Can you tell me how you created the lower chart: X.DJUPV - X.DJDNV?

Thanks in advance,
PJ

FYI you can do the same with Wave RT if you have Esignal data. They have a symbol for up vol - down vol. It is $VOLD. Punch it up and then apply the AMA.

I've been working with this all weekend- yields some really nice results.

Thanks Lars for explaining. I am attaching a screenshot which shows the 10 period AMA and how i calculated the volume only for the one price bar. I do not whether this is the correct way. Also, i do not know how to write in script form, so i could not exclude the first bar from calculation.
Please give your valued opinion and any help with scripts is appreciated. Regards,Sridhar

Hi All,

ok, to make it easy, here comes the script:

# Plot NYSE Intraday Volumne per bar
# Use x.djupv-x.djdnv as input for chart/symbol setup

if (barnum==barsback)
{
    value=0;
}

if (time==starttime)
    value=((h+l+c+c)/4);
else
    value=((h+l+c+c)/4)-((h[1]+l[1]+c[1]+c[1])/4);

val2=AMA(value,10,0.5,0.65,0.85);

plot1=val2;
style1=ps_solid;

plot2=0;
if (val2>0) color1,color2=blue; else color1,color2=red;
thickness2=2;

Thanks to the working GetData Function we can now integrate the NYSE Up- and Down Intraday Delta Volumne into the eMini Future Chart. Shown here as a "Trend" index with colored bars according to the NYSE Volumne:

Hi Lars, good chart, color coding helps.  Thanks.

Just heads up, March 5, was showing up last week yet as important daily resistance.
Market is strong obv. I don't know if we will get decent pullback, or just consolidation for 2-4 days,
but today's highs should be important. If SP's will just keep going higher right from beginning of next week,
advance should really pick up pace, otherwise, I am looking for pullback/consolidation, and then final push in to
first week or so of April, to maybe 1170 or even 1200, and those should be this year's highs. The rest of the year
looks pretty bearish, with declines in to July, and then again in to December.

Good trading.

Hi Simon,

thanks for your anylsis - shows good. I am going more & more on the bear side right now and awaiting the turn. I will watch the prive movement closely during the next weeks...

Here is a short follow up on trading volumne divergences from NYSE Up/Dn Info on the eMini. Let the divergence trigger you into the trade and then the volumne trend lets you stay as long as possible in the trade. Will upload the script shortly to the script library...

Are you sure the volume data is all of NYSE?

From the symbol is reads rather as Dow Jones Industrial Index?

I tried to find both on IB - maybe it's not available there.

Hi,

not sure at all. But I asked Earik for the symbol on NYSE up/down volumne and up/down issues traded on NYSE. He gave me this symbol for that. ....
